Financial Planners of the Future

Helping future financial planners

The financial planner of the future through compelling communication skills will not only focus on how much is enough money for their clients but how and what it will take to have enough meaning and purpose in their client’s lives
— Paul Taylor

The future performance of a financial planner is not dictated by their level of technical competence or their desire to help but through their capacity to communicate in a compelling way.

Financial Planners must work on the skills that make personal financial planning far more personal than it is financial.

It is not the fault of the historical financial planner that their regulator and exam boards have not focussed on the human nature and communication skills required to build trust and connection that get people to overcome the obstacles within themselves that inhibit action.

The art and science to a great meeting environment and structure in financial planning is fundamental to future performance.

It is essential advisers gravitate from a knowledge to a people based skill set. Doubling down in our ability to connect with people and to connect them to their future is key.

I can help you develop the essential habits and skills, that will help build more trust, inspire more impactful thinking and a greater willingness to act from the people you engage with.

I was able amass a nine-figure sum in funds under management (FUM) at a relatively young age from not what I learned as a Chartered Fellow but from what I learned elsewhere, the skills that really matter that get results for the adviser and their clients.

I can equip you or your team to engage with people in a way that has the potential for them to feel and tell others that their conversation with you was the best conversation they have ever had.

Testimonials

Joseph McGarvey - Chartered Financial Planner

“I am a young chartered financial planner, having been in the industry since leaving university. I am currently working for a large multi National consulting and wealth management company in the city of London, dealing with high-net-worth individuals, city professionals and corporate clients.

From starting my career, I have found it challenging to enhance my interpersonal skills given the onus in our industry is very much about what technical knowledge you can ‘wow’ clients with. I learnt very quickly that the trust-building and life coaching aspect of financial planning that is the most critical to success.

Having been mentored by Paul for 12 months, I have vastly improved the outcomes for my clients by focusing on what is important; them.

The techniques and philosophy Paul has instilled into my meetings have resonated with my clients and has built a lasting trust that is established quickly.

I cannot thank Paul enough for his continued guidance and mentorship.”

Tom Robertshaw - Chartered Financial Planner

“I am truly grateful for the coaching and mentoring that I’ve had from Paul. I’m a young Chartered Financial Planner, and I have wrongly thought that exams are the only way to better yourself in our profession.

The coaching sessions I have had Paul will provide more benefit to my clients, than any CII exam that I’ve passed. If you truly want to better yourself, park the ego to one side, and listen to what he has to say.

I couldn’t thank Paul enough, and I know his work will play a vital role in developing the young  adviser community in the UK.”

Jamie Sexton - Managing Director True Potential Wealth Management

“Paul has been working with our internal advisers over the last 6 months to help develop how to effectively communicate with clients to ensure we provide the highest quality of advice and service to our clients.

Since Paul started the training the difference in the team has been exceptional and the quality of advice appointments has increased significantly.

We are very happy with the training we have received.”
